Bernadette Gay Hammack

A native of Jennings, Louisiana, Bernadette along with the support of her parents, the late Henry and Billie Gay opened Bernadette Gay's School of Dance in 1982.  Bernadette's mother ran the business part  and she let Bernadette do what she loved....Teach The Art of DANCE.

Bernadette had many changes and opportunities to move on to bigger cities, but her heart was in teaching dance in Jeff Davis Parish and the surrounding areas.

Bernadette's studio is one of the oldest dance schools in Jefferson Davis Parish. Bernadette has many award winning competition teams. Bernadette's students have performed all over the United States. They have performed in Walt Disney World numerous times, Fiesta Texas, Opryland, Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, Hawaii International Dance, Myrtle Beach, New York City, and the half time show of the 2015 Sugar Bowl.

Bernadette is married to Bob Hammack. For a few years Bob's job had him in Dallas, Texas; when they moved Bernadette had a plan even though it would become tired less she would board a plane on Sundays, fly home to teach dances classes, and fly back to Dallas at the end of the week. She is very dedicated and loves what she does.

Today her and Bob reside in Lafayette and have a true blessing, a daughter, Bella Grace. Bernadette and Bob also raise two other blessing their two nieces Raven and Sadie.

During the dance break Bernadette enjoys traveling in which she usually finds a dance convention or top choreographers' walk-in studio to learn new techniques.  When in New York City, Bernadette always makes time to take a few classes at The Broadway Dance Center.  Her favorite to do is spend time with the people she love and especially being a mom.
